The Artist Award

More and more bands gain attention for their music by using the Internet in an interactive way.

Electro Rap group Art Lus & Ed Lip managed to create a hit out of a 'bad taste song' by innovating promotion.

Dutch pop band BLØF created a virtual house where fans could walk through and check out several live recordings sessions of tracks from their new album.

English Rock/Folkband Georgia Wonder started their Hello stranger campaign in 2008. They created 40 cd's and put each of them in special packaging which read 'Hello Stranger, I am on a journey, Please pick me up'. They sent the cd's to random locations across the UK. Each cd was numbered, and could be tracked trough their website and Facebook page. People were encouraged to listen to the cd's and then leave them somewhere else in a public place for someone else to listen.

Winner 2009 Silence is Sexy

Winner of the Artist Award 2009 was the Pop/Rock band 'Silence is Sexy'. They used torrents as a successful marketing tool by coöperating with the largest torrent site Mininova. Their album was downloaded over 15.000 times in less then two months. Besides the downloads they got a huge amount of media cover.

These are just some examples of how bands use the internet to promote their music.

The first Artist Award was presented during the Noorderslag Festival on the 12th of January 2008 and was granted to VanKatoen.

The Interactive Awards are presented by web agency theFactor.e, Buma Stemra and Eurosonic Noorderslag.
