Dutch Singer-Songwriter Corjan is introducing a new genre of music: Mystery Pop.

What started with a song for New-York Times bestselling author Kathleen McGowan, inspired by her book “The Book of Love”, has turned into a full length album, covering bestselling Mystery Books from an A-list of international bestselling authors. The concept is simple: Corjan contacts an author and writes a song inspired by one of his/her Mystery books. If the author likes the song, he/she is asked to actively participate and to help promote the song to their readers. So far, the authors loved the concept and loved the songs. The choice for the Mystery genre is a personal one by the artist.

Corjan released 4 singles in the last three months based on Mystery books by Kathleen McGowan (the Book of Love), Patrice Chaplin (City of Secrets), Philippa Faulks (the Masonic Magician), and Philip Gardiner (the Bond Code). The authors support “their” songs and in many cases actively participated in the writing and production process. Hollywood icon Patrice Chaplin for example put Corjan in touch with American producer Zalman King who loved the Chaplin song and authorized him to use scenes from Chaplin's 1987 movie Siesta (with Ellen Barkin, Martin Sheen and Jodie Foster) for a video clip ( http://www.corjan.net/2009/10/city-of-secrets-the-grail-in-you/ ).

The full lenght album which is scheduled for release in the course of next year will also contain work inspired by chart topping authors Steve Berry (the Paris Vendetta) and Robert Bauval (the Message of the Sphinx). The authors currently endorsing the album have sold over 15 million books in 60 countries and 50 languages.

For the release of the album, Corjan was offered help by legendary rock producer Warren Croyle (Reality Entertainment, California), after he had been tipped by one of the authors that something exciting was going on. Warren worked with a broad array of acts varying from Belinda Carlisle to Nirvana and Guns n' Roses. The Mystery Pop album will be released in the UK and the US by Warren's label. As a derivative from this deal, Corjan's music videos will be included as bonus tracks on a number of Mystery Documentary DVD's, the first being "The initiation of Alice in Wonderland", globally distributed by Warner Brothers Home Entertainment.

In the artist’s own words: “Because the authors love the songs they open up their networks for me and help me to promote their song to their readers. This way my music is being introduced to new audiences globally with every new song”. The Mysterious Mozart, as Corjan is dubbed by his fast growing fanbase on MySpace and Facebook, is a one-man band, writing and producing his own songs. Corjan's music has been compared to A-ha and Simply Red and has a distinct but modern 80s feel to it.

Corjan’s ability to tune into a story and produce a great song out of it hasn’t gone unnoticed outside the literary world. Next year, Corjan’s songs will feature in at least two British movie productions, the first being the upcoming social networking horror movie Back Slasher by director Tim Cowley. For the other movie carrying the working title 'The Stone', Corjan is currently writing a theme and title song. He will also play a small part in it alongside Tony Scannell (The Bill) and Chris Rankin (Harry Potter).

The promotion campaign for the Mystery Pop album will start in the UK when the album is officially out. The campaign is set-up by British marketing guru Martin Faulks, the Fame Factor promotor of star producer Peter Waterman who was recommended and approached by one of the Mystery Pop authors.

All the authors and other people mentioned in this text, offered their help to Corjan because they believe in the concept and wanted to be on the team. In the words of Martin Faulks: "Sales of the Masonic Magician book notably increased when Corjan's fantastic song was released to Facebook and MySpace. Not only is this great music, but it is music with an angle."

In September 2005, Corjan was the first artist in the world to release a single on an USB-Stick. The USB-Single "Dief" occupied the first place of the LegalDownload Top100 for 5 weeks.
